Product and Locations Mentions

Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park is one of my favorite places and it even goes back to my childhood. They offer field trip programs that are so much fun and can get you access to things you wouldn’t get to see on a normal zoo visit. They also have zoo school and sleepovers! Of course, there are plenty of resources to go along with any trip you make.

Another great zoo option is located in Sanford at the Central Florida Zoo. Homeschool zoo adventure with extreme reptiles, vet investigations, and family workshops. Check out special events like Zoo Bash. Check out their nighttime adventure, kid’s night out, nighttime hike, snooze at the zoo, animal encounters, and ziplining adventures.

The Jacksonville Zoo has a plethora of family programs including Nature Newbies engaging you and your child in free-choice play activities, a story, song, and includes an interaction with a zoo ambassador. Zoo tots focuses on engaging your tot with focused animal themes. Wild Family Workshops are an opportunity to explore and learn about plants and animals, while participating in hands-on, nature-based activities. But you can also take a zoo tour and explore the outdoor green space. The zoo also hosts beautiful sculptures, literary display pieces, and monuments in the lush gardens. They also collaborate with local artists to create nature-based exhibits.

Black Hammock Airboat Rides is an eco-friendly sightseeing boat cruise on the St. Johns River.  They operate from the Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort in Debary, Florida offering several boat tours daily, exploring the river, observing the wildlife, and experiencing a section of the St. Johns that has changed very little from the days when early explorers visited these enchanting waters.

Babcock Ranch EcoTours is a 90-minute eco-tour through the Babcock Ranch traveling through the working cattle ranch and learning its history, wandering through Florida ecosystems, all the while getting up close and personal with the local wildlife. Take a swamp buggy, walling, photo, or nighttime tour.

Take a Dolphin and Eco Tour in Ft. Meyers where you can cruise around Fort Myers Beach, Lovers Key State Park, and the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve and get introduced to the local wildlife.  Bring home some shells from the 3-hour dolphin or stop for a short beach and a quick dip in the water.

Take an Everglades Day Tour will bring you all over the everglades on reptile tours, naturalist tours that show you mangroves on airboats, and nature walk throughout the Everglades.

Meet rescued animals at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. You can take boat rides and guided tours, see special exhibits, or go to a homeschool or educational program.

Visit Discovery Cove Orlando where you can swim with dolphins, visit the aviary and feed the birds, go to the Freshwater Oasis features wading adventures and face-to-face encounters with playful otters and curious marmosets. Designed with a rainforest canopy above and sparkling clear springs below, or go all in at the Trainer for a Day program where you can experience close encounters and guided talks and visits backstage.

The Cox Science Center in West Palm Beach offers STEM classes, coding workshops, make mini machines that are powered by mousetraps and physics, or taking on a little lego and robotics. They also have a full mini golf course!
